Girls and boys

Girls and boys often witness their father/the partner abusing their mother and/or are victims of abuse themselves. We provide a protected setting to listen to children and take seriously what they have lived through and experienced. For this reason, children have their own individual staff worker as a contact. She establishes what the child’s needs are, what kind of support systems are already in place and where and to whom the child can turn for support. By talking to their staff worker, the child gains a sense of relief and feels stronger.

We support girls and boys by:

  • holding one-to-one conversations at Courage (while the mother is having counselling)
  • providing an outreach counselling service at home or if required at school
