About us

Frauen helfen Frauen e.V. Heidelberg was set up as a non-profit association in 1978. We stand up for women and children, and offer them individual assistance, advice and protection.

Our qualified full-time female staff are active members of the association and they work hard day after day to achieve our goals:

  • We help women affected by violence to exercise their right and the right of their children to physical integrity and self-determination.
  • We offer women and their children individual help if they have experienced physical and mental violence, regardless of their background, religion or sexual orientation.
  • We are involved in political work to combat the causes of violence towards women, girls and boys, thus raising public awareness of the issue.
  • We take a feminist stance coupled with a partisan approach and an awareness of racism.

Upon the ratification in October 2017 of the Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence, the Istanbul Convention, Germany pledged to "protect women against all forms of violence, and prevent, prosecute and eliminate violence against women and domestic violence" and to "design a comprehensive framework, policies and measures for the protection of and assistance to all victims of violence against women and domestic violence".

Our work is supported by various cooperation partners.
